The City of Lenexa is looking for a Farmers Market Attendant with a passion for local food, community connection, and exceptional customer service. As a Farmers Market Attendant, you’ll play a key role in ensuring the success and smooth operation of our lively Farmers’ Market!

Position Summary:
As a Farmers Market Attendant, you’ll assist with the on-site management and daily operations of the Farmers’ Market. From supporting vendors and enforcing market guidelines to providing top-notch customer service, you’ll help ensure a welcoming, well-organized, and compliant market experience for all.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist with market setup, operations, and shutdown, including traffic barricades, cones, and signage.
• Manage the low-cost debit program (SNAP) and reconcile transactions at the end of the market.
• Provide excellent customer service by answering questions, resolving complaints, and handling emergencies.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local health regulations.
• Help enforce market rules, layout vendor booths, and maintain the Market Information Booth.
• Perform light custodial tasks such as sweeping, mopping, and trash collection.
• Complete end-of-day operations reports and assist with special events.

Qualifications:

• Required:
  • High school diploma or G.E.D.
  • One year of experience in a fast-paced, customer service environment.
  • Satisfactory credit history.
• Preferred:
  • Experience in agriculture, event management, or facility operations.
  • Familiarity with nonprofit, community, or agriculture-based groups.

The rate of pay is $15.50 per hour.

Physical and Environmental Factors:
This role involves working outdoors, standing for long periods, and occasionally lifting 20-30 lbs. Weekend and holiday availability, including special holiday markets, is required.

Offers of employment are contingent upon passing a pre-employment drug screen. A background check is required for applicants aged 18 or older.
