The City of Lenexa Parks and Recreation Department is accepting applications for year-round and summer Lifeguards. This position is a great opportunity to develop customer service and teamwork skills while serving the community at one of our facilities:
Hiring Timeline:
Applications are currently being accepted. The hiring process will be ongoing from November through April, with interviews and swim tests conducted throughout this period. Start dates will vary based on applicant availability and program needs.
Schedule:
This position requires weekday, weekend, and holiday availability. Applicants will provide their specific availability during the application process, which will be reviewed as part of the hiring decision. Lifeguards must also attend ongoing in-service training to maintain skills and certifications.
Position Summary:
Lifeguards ensure the safe and enjoyable operation of the City’s swimming pools. Responsibilities include supervising patrons, enforcing facility rules, providing first aid and emergency response, and assisting with general pool operations and cleanliness. Lifeguards promote safety and deliver excellent customer service to all visitors.
Minimum Qualifications:
Starting rate of pay is $15.50 per hour with annual raises.
Environmental and Physical Factors: Work is performed in and around a pool environment with frequent exposure to sun, heat, humidity, wind, and other weather conditions. The position requires standing and moving for extended periods of time and occasionally lifting up to 50 lbs. Tasks involve physical activity, use of hands, and clear vision to complete work safely and accurately.
Offers of employment are contingent upon successfully passing a drug screen. A background check is required for applicants aged 18 and older.
